Chevy Show Trucks

Anytime you go to a car show that includes trucks of any type, especially in the United States, you are going to run into a lot of Chevy show trucks. Over the years and years they have been produced, so many parts have been made for the various models of Chevy trucks that it just makes sense that a lot of people would like to show theirs off.

Chevy Show Trucks
I've seen everything from Chevy trucks that were painted and equipped to match RVs or boats to jacked up Chevy trucks that I had a hard time believing could have fit into the showroom. I don't know what it's like in the rest of the country, but I know here in Texas people seem to feel like Fords are the work trucks while Chevys are the show and performance trucks. They like their Fords as long as they are running. They LOVE their Chevys.
There is no counting the number of times I have seen a Chevy all done up and looking like it's ready to win a few awards take off from a stoplight and seriously ruin a Honda driver's Friday evening. It always strikes me as funny, seeing a dual cab, extended bed pickup with the extra weight of all the 4x4 hardware pull away from a little import that has been relieved of everything including door panels and sound dampening. Then, if you go hang out at whatever parking lot the ricers frequent and listen in on their conversations, you may hear something along the lines of "Well, it was a Z71, that's why it beat me."
Yeah, doofus, that means you got beaten by an off road 4x4. Good job.
That next Saturday, I'll see that same truck, hood removed to show the chrome on the engine, drawing all sorts of admiring glances at the local charity car show, and just have to laugh. Race it on Friday night, spray it off, show it on Saturday. Must be a Chevy.
Any time I am at a car show that includes trucks, I tend to gravitate toward the Chevys. Amusingly, they seem to cluster together as well, even if the event organizers do not intend it. The guys with the big 4x4s are always the ones that are willing to tell you exactly what they have done to their trucks – sometimes giving a bit too much information. Do I need to know things like gear ratios and spring rebound rates? Not really. But to hear them talk about their 4x4s, you will get to feel one of the things that really makes Chevy guys stand out. Pride in their ride.
