People who dig monster 4x4 trucks often like the idea of lifted Chevy trucks as well. After all, lift kits allow the average Joe Schmo to get that on-top-of-the-world, invincible feeling. Don’t assume that these big boy toys are only for the young and adventurous twenty-something males. On the contrary, lifted Chevy trucks and Chevy 4x4's are enjoyed by nearly every age group and both genders.

There are a number of reasons why drivers want to buy a lifted truck or lift an existing 4x4 Chevy truck. Doing so gives the driver an exhilarating feeling while getting lots of attention. People can’t help but stare when nice lifted Chevy trucks roll by. They know that owning one takes attitude, and they aren’t cheap toys! Living environments or work requirements may require a lifted truck as well. These trucks can traverse very rocky terrains as if skipping through soft grass, plow through thick snow, and blaze a trail across sandy desserts.

Some people choose to lift their trucks for appearance or performance purposes. Lifted Chevy trucks can be fitted with bigger tires or wheels. Larger tires increase performance, increases safety, and conquers challenging road situations with ease. It is important to remember, however, that the metal fenders must be removed when using larger sized tires, and flares must be installed to avoid caked-on dirt.

Since they are so much higher and the driving perspective is so different, the driver must have experience in handling large-sized vehicles. They are also quite heavy and require longer stopping time and distance than the average truck. Lifted Chevy trucks can roll over, primarily due to a higher center of gravity. Sharp turns or quick turns, therefore, are very dangerous.

Lifting an older model truck is a popular activity among Chevy 4x4 enthusiasts and monster truck hobbyists. People who are a skilled mechanic or have lots of experience should be able to lift their own Chevy truck easily. On the other hand, if there is any doubt of mechanical ability, then take the lift job to a professional. Be certain of local and state laws about maximum allowed lift height. Doing so will avoid a citation as soon as the truck is pull out of the driveway, mechanic’s shop, or dealership!
